New Products from AJA Video System at NAB 2016
An interview from the 2016 National Association of Broadcasters Convention in Las Vegas with Bryce Button of AJA Video Systems. In this interview Bryce talks with us about a wide range of new products & updates such as CION v1.3 Firmware, Ki Pro Ultra v1.2 Firmware & Pak-Adapt-eSATA, HELO Streaming and Recording Appliance.
New firmware was introduced for AJA’s CION 4K/UltraHD and 2K/HD production camera that shoots edit-ready Apple ProRes files at up to 4K 60fps. CION v1.3 firmware, available today as a free software download, was created based on customer feedback, and adds features that improve the CION imagery pipeline. New renamed gamma settings are now available in the CION menu and include new options for Standard, Expanded, Video and Cine modes.
Ki Pro Ultra v1.2 firmware will be available next month as a free download. Ki Pro has long-supported the Mac-based HFS+ file system, and with new ExFAT support, AJA Pak Media will also be compatible with Windows and Linux systems. New 16-channel embedded audio on SDI will expand audio choices and compatibility. Embedded Closed Captioning will allow recording and playback of CC data, and two sample interleave (SMPTE 2SI) I/O support for 4K/Ultra HD will offer greater compatibility with third-party displays, switchers and more.
AJA’s new Pak-Adapt-eSATA will have the same form factor as AJA’s Pak storage modules, with a standard eSATA cable connector offering a flexible media alternative for Ki Pro Ultra and Ki Pro Quad. This new option will allow Ki Pro Ultra and Ki Pro Quad users to utilize eSATA media and eSATA RAIDs.

HELO, a new H.264 streaming and recording device is AJA’s first standalone streaming product and offers a range of professional workflow options with both 3G-SDI and HDMI inputs and outputs, the power to handle up to 1080p recording formats and a simple web-based UI for easy configuration. It allows users to simultaneously stream video signals directly to Web Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) while recording either to an SD card, USB drives or network-based storage, with dedicated record and stream buttons for easy operation.
Introducing KONA IP, AJA's first desktop video and audio I/O product for professional IP-based workflows. KONA IP is the next generation of AJA’s industry-leading KONA line of PCIe capture cards and works with AJA Control Room and Control Panel software and SDK tools along with leading third-party content creation applications.
Hi5-4K-Plus facilitates pristine image fidelity and HFR support up to 60p for 4K/UltraHD SDI to HDMI 2.0 conversion. It provides a simple monitoring connection from professional 4K devices using Quad 3G-SDI, Quad 1.5G-SDI or Dual 3G-SDI outputs to new displays with HDMI 2.0 inputs, for cost-effective monitoring in film and broadcast workflows.
HDP3 is a miniature 3G-SDI to DVI-D scan converter for converting and scaling HD source footage, including 1080p 60, for use on common DVI and HDMI display and projection devices in film, broadcast and AV. It offers motion adaptive de-interlacing, automatic output format and scaling adjustment, filtering, video to VESA frame rate conversion and 1 to 1 pixel mapping
