Manfrotto Latest Updates on Gitzo Mountaineer Tripods & Heads at PhotoPlus 2015
An interview from the 2015 PhotoPlus Expo in New York City with Paul Zakrewski of Manfrotto US. Manfrotto is part of the Imaging division of Vitec Group plc, and is the world leader in designing, producing and distributing professional supports, bags and protective gear for the photographic, video and entertainment markets. In this interview Paul talks with us about new technology updates to their Gitzo Mountaineer Tripods & Heads.
Mountaineer is our ‘all-purpose’ carbon tripod family extremely rigid and light in weight. Our Mountaineer tripods have been developed further to incorporate the latest Gitzo technology which increase both performance and ease of use.
Revolutionary Carbon eXact tubes are even stiffer to maximize rigidity and image stability. Carbon eXact optimizes the fibre composition for each tube size, using HM (High Modulus) carbon fibre in the narrower tubes to make them stiffer. The tube diameters are also optimized: the final leg section of a 4 section Series 1 tripod is now 22.5% thicker than its predecessor.
Gitzo has redesigned the G-lock internally and externally introducing a new leg locking system: G-lock Ultra. It creates new level of ergonomics and resistance, with smoother, softer operation, while reducing dust entering the system.
Traveler Center Ball Heads are stripped-down versions of our standard center ball heads. The mangesium body is designed to achieve maximum structural strength from minimum weight and size, and a single rationalised lever controls both pan and ball locks.
