The Catalyst Production Suite fuses powerful media preparation and fast, focused video editing to provide the backbone for your video productions. Catalyst Prepare paves your path from camera to post with robust organizational tools, strong color adjustment and monitoring, extensive metadata support, and more. Catalyst Edit provides a lean, focused video editing environment that makes your cutting process fast and fluent. With support for 4K and Sony RAW media, the Catalyst Production Suite gives you the power to make the most of your camera's high dynamic range and wide color gamut as well as the stunning resolution of 4K from beginning to end.
Some of the best features in Catalyst Prepare 2015 include, Improved navigation through a streamlined interface, Simultaneously backup media to multiple devices with verification, Easier file maintenance so you can readily organize, rename, and transcode clips into NLE-friendly formats. Additionally, the transcoding supports key formats for Sony (AVC, XAVC, XDCAM, and Sony RAW), Apple (ProRes for Mac), AVID (DNxHD), and more. As well as EDL exporting in formats for Apple Final Cut Pro (*.fcpxml), Adobe Premiere (*.prproj), AVID Media Composer (*.aaf), and Vegas Pro (*.txt).
Catalyst Edit now includes a large number of built-in GPU accelerated video FX plug-ins and supports the OpenFX (OFX) standard. Users can now include special effects, filters, media generators, transitions, and more from 3rd-party vendors. They have also added support for ACES workflow, which ensures that color management and correction meets industry standards. In the timeline, their are now editing improvements which allow rearrange tracks, select all clips, visualize muted tracks more effectively, easily create nested timelines, and more.
Additionally they have expanded the editing tools and capabilities with things like; looped playback, partial or full-project rendering, re-link missing media or replace with different files, J and L cut creation, roll editing, improved Sony RAW performance, clip playback rate control for fast or slow motion and freeze frame looks, picture-in-picture control, crop and zoom control, clip volume envelopes, and audio channel re-routing at render.
