Watch Mercury Pass in Front of the Sun in 4K Resolution

Last month, attentive sky watchers could see Mercury pass in front of the Sun (and hopefully did so without looking directly at the Sun). Thanks to a few high-definition videos courtesy of NASA, you can now re-live the rare moment.

The space agency just released several 4K videos of the event, which can be seen from Earth about 13 times a century. There are three videos in total, compiled into a timelapse above, shot with different instruments and filters from the Solar Dynamics Observatory.
